Peasants' Feast print. This brown salt glaze color was experimental…produced by Raeren
potters attempting to produce wares that were sharp and crisp by adjusting kiln
temperature and oxygen levels. This krug would have been called "fehlbrand" …failed
brand. The attempt to maintain consistent temperature and oxygen was not consistent,
therefore producing differing results. Likely, they were sold at a discounted price
The height is 8 7/8" to thumbpiece; height to rim: 7 5/8". The pewter lid is period
however, likely the second lid; small chip to rim and underside of base, else fine.
